For the past several days, I’ve noticed that “endless” scrolling or “infinite” scrolling is not working on Facebook. Just want to ask any other FB users if you are experiencing the same thing. Continue reading »
Perishable Press turns 14 this year! Amazing how quickly time flies, especially when you enjoy your work. This site started back in early 2005. I remember reading a ton of books on web design, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and everything in between. I soaked it all up like a sponge, and then practiced my new skills by developing Perishable Press, writing articles, sharing code, and helping all sorts of awesome people wherever possible. Truly an amazing journey that I hope continues […] Continue reading »
The “Plan” for 2019: keep working hard and doing your best. Everything else will happen on its own. Less worry, less stress, less time in front of a screen. Work smarter, enjoy life more. You know, the usual inspiring things that people say as a new year unfolds. In short, go with the flow and stay focused. Continue reading »
Blasty is a paid online service that sends DMCA takedown notices to infringing websites on your behalf. As the author of several books, I paid for one year of the service in March of 2018 to help combat rampant piracy. And for several months the service worked great. I enjoyed receiving the periodic email reports letting me know of successful takedowns. And I could log into my account and check out specific takedowns, view reports, and find all sorts of […] Continue reading »
After 9 grueling weeks, I am happy to say that the 2018 Perishable Press redesign is complete. There are still a few small details that I am contemplating, but overall the work is finished and the site is back to full production capacity. From the old Wire theme rolled out in 2013 (five years ago!), to the minimalist, lightweight X Theme, Perishable Press has metamorphosed into a lean, mean, content sharing machine. This is the 24th time Perishable Press has […] Continue reading »
Pardon my dust! I am in the process of switching over to the site’s new design. Please report anything weird, otherwise please pardon my dust as the site settles in with its new theme :) Will post a full report soon! Continue reading »
Finally got around to setting up and pimping out official Facebook pages for my main websites. It took awhile to get them all fleshed out with posts, graphics, infos, and so forth. And then took awhile longer to wait until there were enough likes to get those oh-so-special vanity URLs. You know you gotta have those things. And now at this point, they’re all pretty much ready for their close-ups.. and so without further ado, here is my growing collection […] Continue reading »
This year has been full of change, hard work, and lots of planning. First it was general clean-up, reorganization, and streamlining of online assets (e.g., axing unused domains, consolidating email addresses, closing old social media accounts, etc.). That may not sound like a lot of work, but after 15+ years working online, it was a LOT of stuff to go through and get organized. My goal is to simplify my process down to a focused stream of activity. This post […] Continue reading »
Just a quick post to let people know about the updates now available for my various books and plugins. Basically the entire month of May was spent on plugin and book updates, so here is a quick summary of what’s new. Continue reading »
Recently I’ve been implementing SSL on my domains and have been streamlining and updating some projects along the way. Consolidating properties is a great way to simplify workflow and boost productivity, so I’ve went ahead and moved xyCSS from its own domain, xy.css, to its new home here at Perishable Press. About a week ago, I sent a support request to Dropbox asking how to purge deleted files. Never heard anything back, but I figured that I would ask here to see if anyone knows the magic recipe. Here is the support question I sent to the Dropbox team: Continue reading »
shapeSpace is the starter WordPress theme that I use to build sites like Plugin-Planet.com and DigWP.com. I use it because it includes all of the most commonly used template tags and a minimal amount of clean markup. Additonally, shapeSpace includes a robust set of custom functions that make it easy to add and modify theme features and functionality. Continue reading »
