Path to Outlook Express Files on WinXP

Trying to backup your Outlook Express .dbx files on Windows XP may prove difficult if you can’t find them. Well, fret no more, my friend. Here is the generalized path to the Outlook Express folder, which contains all of the .dbx files for a particular user.

Path to Outlook Express

Copy, paste, and shortcut:

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{12345678-1234-ABCD-EFGH-1234567890AB}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Notes

  • [username] = each user will should have their set of .dbx files
  • {12345678-1234-ABCD-EFGH-1234567890AB} = represents a unique alphanumeric string

    My XP Pro Corp
doesn’t have a an Identities folder
on the D drive (where XP is installed)
    anywhere in Documents and Settings

    (on path to Outlook folders).

Unfortunately, I do not have access to a copy of XP Pro Corp, but I would think that a search for *.dbx files would point you in the right direction.. ;)

  3. There is good tool which works with mails-opening .dbx files, as is known software is free, it restore mails, attached files, fix other mail files, program is compatible with Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows Vista, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows XP, Windows XP SP2 and any version of Outlook Express, installed on your PC, recovery represents the analysis of separate dbx files, because Outlook Express splits your mailbox into several files.
