List of All User Agents for Top Search Engines

Here is a working list of all user agents for the major, top search engines. I use this information frequently for my plugins such as Blackhole for Bad Bots and BBQ Pro, so I figured it would be useful to post the information online for the benefit of others. Having the user agents for these popular bots all in one place helps to streamline my development process. Each search engine includes references and a regex pattern to match all known user agents.

  1. Hi Jeff
Thanks for 6G and this post. Also noted your new Blackhole plugin. Is 6G and that plugin compatible? I use 6G on all my servers, works like a charm. My spikes in “weird” traffic has gone down a lot.

  2. Nice reference! With 80+ percent of the Chinese market, maybe Baidu should be on this list?

    Hi Jeff,

How come BINGBOT is not part of this list? Isn’t it one of the biggest ones out there?

    Hey Jeff,

Great list! AOL results are now powered by Bing, and previously were powered by Google. Does AOL even have a legit bot anymore? I’m thinking the AOL User-Agents might be 100% fake. Perhaps these should move to the blacklist? I’d be interested to hear your take.

That’s good to know! I’ll do some further research and maybe remove AOL from the list. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
