Yoast WP SEO vs All in One SEO

Update (2013/08/26): This article was written in 2011 and both plugins have changed quite a bit. Yoast SEO pretty much covers the entire spectrum, while All in One SEO covers more than it has in the past. So either plugin could be great depending on your site’s specific SEO needs, but if you’re just looking for a solid way to implement the SEO basics, check out DigWP.com for a lightweight DIY Alternative to WordPress SEO Plugins. While setting things up here at the new site (new WP install), I’m trying to keep the custom functions and plugins down to a […] Read more »

Book Review: WordPress for Business Bloggers

WordPress for Business Bloggers by Packt Publishing was a pleasure to read because it approaches many of the important aspects of WordPress from a slightly different perspective: that of the “business blogger”. One of the year-end maintenance rituals that I have decided to adopt involves sharing a few annual site statistics for Perishable Press. Over the course of the previous year, Perishable Press has gone through many changes, including switching servers multiple times, eliminating nofollow attributes from comments, and even a complete site overhaul and restructuring. Despite the chaos surrounding such events, traffic levels have continued to increase, bounce rates have steadily decreased, and the number of feed subscribers continues to grow. Overall, I extremely pleased with how the site is doing, especially considering my disdain for formal advertising and social marketing […] Read more »

Second-generation iPod nano The second-generation iPod nano is the perfect perpetual soundscape delivery system. Its lightweight design, intuitive interface, and generous storage capacity encourage digital listening pleasure virtually everywhere. The sound quality is crystal clear even at deafening volumes, and the sharp display screen makes it super-easy to configure a highly customizable set of preferences. The zen-like control wheel features touch-sensitive volume adjustment, which tricks you into thinking that you are magic or something every time you change the volume. It may be a little scary carrying around such an expensive and relatively delicate piece of technology, but the sheer […] Read more »
